Cold Blooded Eyes
02:09
|
|
||
As I sit right here right under this tree
I'ma tell you a story bout me
I was a young lad not quite a man
Met a lady named Ann Marie
She had blonde curls and bright blue eyes
With a smile that was built for lies
She told em well really put me through hell
Guess it really wasn't a surprise
She met her demise
Through my cold blooded eyes
Well she crossed me once she done crossed me twice
Said I wasn't gonna let it happen again
I had to dig deep down where's it dark
To create this plan of sin
Mix a couple bottles and a couple of pills
Then I waited til she fell asleep
Went of to the hill and I dug a hole
Now my plan is almost complete
She'd meet her demise
Through my cold blooded eyes
She met her demise
Through my cold blooded eyes
Well I planted that bitch down six feet deep
She laid there and would forever be
Forever mine and she'd grow with time
On the hill of Maple Creek
Every now then I when she's on my mind
I walk out to where I planted that seed
And rest my bones on that cold ground
Under the tree named Ann Marie
Where she met her demise
Through my cold blooded eyes
She met her demise
Through my cold blooded eyes

Found the Blues
02:20
|
|
||
I found the blues down in that old bottle
Found the blues down in that old song
I found the blues down in that old bottle
Lord when its gone, yeah when its gone
I found the blues with my old lady
Found the blues on that old highway side
Found the blues with my old lady
Lord when we died yeah when we died
But now there's one thing i want to know
Tell me when lord are these blues gonna go
I found the blues in the south side of Texas
Found them blues by that old river bank
Found them blues in the south side of Texas
And they threw me in the clank
But now there's one thing i want to know
Tell me when lord are these blues gonna go
I found the blues when the sky it was cryin
Found the blues when i had nowhere to lay my head
I found the blues when the sky it was cryin
And I'd rather be dead, rather be dead

Goin' Home
01:41
|
|
||
Rushin through the snow
My hands are tremblin
There's no more leaves a changin
They've all just fallen from the trees
The cold wind is blowin
It chills me to the bone
I'm sure I don't like livin here
Just can't call it home
I'm goin home
See myself in Texas or maybe Tennessee
All I know is these winters well boy they ain't for me
So I'll hop of a freighter headin down the Mississippi
to a place that"s warm and friendly and I'll get somethin good to eat
I'm goin home
If I ever make it there
The first thing I'll do
Is find me a western store and
Some cowboy boots
I'll call all my buddies
And start to raise some hell
Cause that's the kind of thing
That we do so well
I'm goin home
Find myself day dreamin of whiskey and moonshine
Days spent six shootin and walkin that line
But I'm stuck in Minnesota man tryin to get out
Don't you expect me to stick around

Rot Gut Charlie
03:28
|
|
||
Well way back long long ago
Something in his head had gone and broke
Charlie's mamma paid him no mind
And dad got put away when his boy was five
So he left home at the age of twelve
Out there hoppin frieght trains riding the rails
He got passed a jug and chugged away
And that's how he got the name rot gut Charlie
Charlie grew up like any kid
Just a sucker for a women or a fix
And like any fool he fell in love
With a woman on 94 where he hung his thumb
Sweet little lady took him all the way
She had beautiful brown hair and a place to stay
She maid him a bed in the place she called home
Where Charlie stayed while the whiskey soaked his bones
Charlie and Jane were a perfect match
On everything cept the swill and the cash
It was now time for Charlie to choose
Tween the love of his life and his beloved bottle of booze
And Jane cried if I swore I'd love you forever
Charlie baby could you ever get better
He turned around with a tear in his eye
Then thumbed it westbound down on 35
40 years later down the line
Jane's all that's left in Charlies sour mash mind
Sweet little lady gave him a ride
Ain't nothing but faded photos behind his eyes
in the alley where he now resides
charlie lays down in that bottle to die

It's Fine
03:17
|
|
||
Well he grew up
In a small town
That laid next to the river
He was a regular 9-5 guy
Then one day
I guess you could say that
He lost his way
He committed murder but didn’t know why
I am the reaper that sleeps in your bed
I am the voice that lurks in your head
You can close your eyes
But I’ll still get in
I am the one that commits the sin
I am the one that tells you its fine
While she stood there
With her sad frown
Her spine began to quiver
Her mind remembered a different time
See one day
I guess you could say that
She lost her way
She was a prostitute but didn’t know why
I am the reaper that sleeps in your bed
I am the voice that lurks in your head
You can close your eyes
But I’ll still get in
I am the one that commits the sin
I am the one that tells you its fine
As he sat there
With his head down
His blood filled up with liquor
Needle scars up and down his arms
See one day
I guess you could say that
He lost his way
He was a junkie but didn’t know why
I am the reaper that sleeps in your bed
I am the voice that lurks in your head
You can close your eyes
But I’ll still get in
I am the one that commits the sin
I am the one that tells you its fine

My Rose Moon
04:57
|
|
||
It has been a cold December
Not like the ones i used to know
So I'm sittin by the river so my family will not shiver
But there ain't much work to be had here with all the snow
And I hope things will be all right
But the body counts been risin and hell I'm next in line
And if things don't get better soon
I'll be down in Mississippi with my rose moon
The liquor only keeps ya warm until the bottle is gone
The cold has now claimed my wife's life and soon will take my sons
Now the fire is dead there's no more food and we cant buy any wood
But I would trade my life to save my wife and only begotten son
And I hope things will be alight
But the body counts been rising and hell I'm next in line
And if things don't get better soon
I'll be down in Mississippi with my rose moon
Now the sun will not shine
Down here in Saint Paul
It hasn't since September I would say
And men like me probably die alone
With a bottle in hand and eyes holding a liquor glaze
And I hope things will be alright
But the body counts been climbin and hell I'm next in line
And if things don't get better soon
I'll be down in Mississippi with my rose moon

Half the Man
03:07
|
|
||
If I could ever figure out all the riddles of the wind
Or how come when she falls out of love you seem to fall right in
So tell me now wheres' a good old boy begin to begin
When the walls tick and the clock is closing in
Made it back to Saint Paul in about a day or two
When they put on their Sundays best I grabbed my travelin shoes
Now these days I sit and drink and sing them sad old tunes
About makin it out alive and a lost boys blues
So if you're ever feelin lonesome
Remember that you're better off then me
Cause I ain't nothing now no
But half the man that I used to be
Built ourselves a bonfire down by the sandstone bluffs
I was flyin high for a little while but soon ran out of luck
And it took three weeks of my bein gone for her to start feelin stuck
So I was on my own again by one o'clock
I went on down to the east side of town to get back on my feet
Found a nice little place to stay off Maria and Mclean
Met myself a new girl to love livin over on fifth street
And when she closes her eyes she only dreams of me
So if you're ever feelin lonesome
Remember that you're better off then me
Cause I ain't nothing now no
But half the man that I used to be
Now these days I like to sit and smoke my cigarettes
Drink that robot down till there ain't a drop left
And I'm always shakin hands yeah its a good way to forget
But it opens the door real early to all regrets
So if you're ever feelin lonesome
Remember that you're better off then me
Cause I ain't nothing now no
But half the man that I used to be
